Day 12 - Commit
This is one of the most exciting times of the year as girls throughout the country have narrow down their choices to where they want to play basketball for the next  4 years in college.  For the student athlete and their parents it has been a wonderful roller coaster ride of highs & lows. However for the Capital City Star Top Team (Class of 2015 and a few 2016) the journey has come to an exhilarating end. The Decision have been closed down to (1) singular school of choice. They have verbally committed and are now anxious to sign on the dotted line for that long awaited dream to be fulfilled.  Each day, We'll add info concerning the decision from one of our proud Capital City Stars.  The hard-work, dedication, determination, prayers and the beliefs have been realized. Today is the first of many more to be recognized in this series on the Capital City Stars playing at the Next Level. So today, we proudly would like to announce the decision of the following Capital City Star:

Elise Torrence
What she lack with speed, she will make up for with heart, desire & effort.  Elise has worked extremely hard with her personal trainer (Chris Bond) and it started to showed well, especially in the one-on-one post drills where she was able to show off her improved post skills.  She has the ability to step out and shoot the ball on the perimeter or face-up in the post to score.   As she continues to develop and get stronger playing with her back to the basket, Elise will be able to use her physical tools more and more to exploit mismatches.  Years of Hands on training has taught her about keeping the ball high on both the post feed as well as offensive boards that come her way. Her post moves are sound and evolving but the counters are still a thought rather than a reaction at this point. Her touch is soft, effective and takes her well out to 15 feet. The physical strength will have to come down the road as defenders utilize the physical approach to take away her attacks.  Doesn't run the floor as well as some elite posts, but defends the paint. Blocks shots, will close out to the three point line to contest shots too.  This 6-3 post player made her mark and earned numerous basketball accolades by rebounding the basketball and being an active presence on the floor. Elise will fill an immediate need for the team, providing depth at the center position, and she should act as an anchor on the defensive end with her ability to eat space in the post while steadily become that go to offensive player down low.  . ...  We have no doubt, she will leave a legacy behind at the University she has chosen to represent.......I'm proud to announce Ms. Elise Torrence has verbally pledged to take her talents to    ...................................................................................................................................
Maryville University!
Congratulations Elise....... remember to always let your game SHINE!

Day 11 - Commit
This is one of the most exciting times of the year as girls throughout the country have narrow down their choices to where they want to play basketball for the next  4 years in college.  For the student athlete and their parents it has been a wonderful roller coaster ride of highs & lows. So today, we proudly would like to announce the decision of the following Capital City Star:

Nazarae "NAZ" Butler
Ms. Butler was central Ohio's leading scorer with a 26.1 average that included one 48 point game.  Butler emerged as the go-to player for her high school team.  She can shoot from the inside and the outside.  Nazarae is an explosive athletic floor leader with handles and attacks, distributes with purpose in transition; superb court awareness, change of direction, tough to contain; breaks down defenders off the bounce with consistency, passes and finishes in traffic; among the most promising point guards in the 2015 class.  She is working hard to have a well-rounded basketball arsenal. She can make plays off the bounce for herself and others.  At 5-10, she can play any of the three perimeter positions and adapt her game. Her smooth athleticism and terrific body control often are deceiving because she doesn't look as fast as someone running at the limits of her balance. She uses her body well in traffic, initiates contact and has two go-to moves to score on the drive. Those two moves are a smooth pull-up jumper as well as a floater that she uses anywhere inside of 15 feet.   Impressive skills with the ball in her hands. The ability is there to create one on one especially with the use of a deceiving hesitation move. Lots of speed and a willingness to attack make her a constant threat to defenders. The perimeter shot looks sound but will need to be a more consistent threat to keep opponents closing out tight.  Lots of possibilities.  The court isn't the only place where Butler has been succeeding. She has a 3.8 GPA and is also a member of the National Honor Society.  We have no doubt, she will leave a legacy behind at the University she has chosen to represent.......        I'm proud to announce Ms. Nazarae Butler has verbally pledged to take her talents to  .................................................................................................................................
UMass-Lowell University!
Congratulations Naz....... remember to always let your game SHINE!

Day 10 - Commit
This is one of the most exciting times of the year as girls throughout the country have narrow down their choices to where they want to play basketball for the next  4 years in college.  For the student athlete and their parents it has been a wonderful roller coaster ride of highs & lows. So today, we proudly would like to announce the decision of the following Capital City Star:

Taylor Johnson
There aren't enough adjectives to describe Taylor Johnson.  Taylor herself stated  when playing she expends so much energy on the court that she doesn't use many words describing her own abilities other than 110% Hustle.  The 5-foot-9 junior made her name the past two seasons playing guard/wing, but she has blossom into an elite Point Guard during this past AAU Season. She garnered loads of attention from many D1 & D2 universities.  Her height makes her one of the tallest player on her high school team which made them play her at times in the Post.  Taylor is one of our stronger guards and she's been fortunate to get smaller defenders guarding her, so we could put her down in the post at time too. She has a knack for long-range shooting but she won't shy away from contact driving it thru the paint.  A game manager with an extra gear, explosiveness; a decision-maker in both up-tempo and in a half-court set, outstanding in extended pressure, reads passing lanes, great anticipator; a complete-package lead guard.  Taylor's first step is explosive and the confidence she has is impressive. She's willing to use a change of speed and direction to create her own looks as well as some for her teammates.  She does everything in the framework of the offense & whatever her team needs to succeed. A flat out LEADER! We have no doubt, she will leave a legacy behind at the University she has chosen to represent.......        I'm proud to announce Ms. Taylor Johnson has verbally pledged to take her talents to   .................................................................................................................................

So today, we proudly would like to announce the decision of the following Capital City Star:

Tori Moreland
Dominating Right-handed Forward delivers the complete package in the frontcourt; manufactures and attacks, consistently delivers in the mid-range game; fluid off the dribble, body control draws contact and finishes the play.   Pro-frame with emerging offensive consistency in the paint; lateral quickness and defends out of area, wingspan, active in passing lanes; fluid and agile with decent first-step attack gains respect in mid-post attack; a versatile interior performer for the Star's.  Tori has always been active on the glass and defensively. The advancement in Tori's game from the scholastic season to now is staggering. The size, length and athleticism are all there but it's her willingness to use them to their fullest that puts her in the middle of the action time and time, again.  All the tools are in place to evolve into something special. We have no doubt, she will leave a legacy behind at the University she has chosen to represent.......        I'm proud to announce Ms. Tori Moreland has verbally pledged to take her talents to  .................................................................................................................................

So today, we proudly would like to announce the decision of the following Capital City Star:

Lauren Ruth
Once a one-dimensional shooter, the 5'10" Ruth has transformed her game and is a threat anywhere on the offensive side of the court. She has a nice shooting stroke but also has the ability to drive and finish in the lane. Her strong build and explosive moves to the basket keep her defender guessing on what she will do with the ball. You have to respect her jump shot, but as soon as you try to body her up, she will not hesitate to go around you for a quick pull-up or layup.  Lauren was explosive getting to the rim and hit the three-ball as well as we've come to expect from her this past AAU Season. Also, when given a marquee matchup defensively, she elevated her game on that end too.  Maybe more than anything, the kid is just a winner. Not the biggest or most athletic guard/wing you will find, but certainly one of the most effective. Has a great feel for the game and a motor that doesn't quit. Is a leader on the floor and when her team needs her she finds a way to make a big play. We have no doubt, she will leave a legacy behind at the University she has chosen to represent.......        I'm proud to announce Ms. Lauren Ruth has verbally pledged to take her talents to  .................................................................................................................................
St. Joseph's College (Indiana)!
Congratulations Lauren....... remember to always let your game SHINE!

So today, we proudly would like to announce the decision of the following Capital City Star:

Yasmin "Yaz" Norman
Captain, warrior, hard-nose, defender, scorer, the bigger the moment - the better the player those are all attributes used to describe Yasmin Norman.  She is an athlete who has decided to play basketball because with her athleticism I'm sure she would be great at any sport she would have chosen.   To play guard is what she will be for you in every sense of the word.  She can make all the easy passes but she can make the full court pass off a rebound or she can make the "no look pass" for a layup in traffic without breaking a sweat while not being afraid of diving on the floor for a loose ball.  She is energy driven. The more she plays the harder she will play and the better she will play for her team.  She is hardwired for winning.  She has the ability to takeover games when needed.  She is not afraid of crunch-time (THE BIG MOMENT) and relishes taking the last shot without hesitation.  She is all about winning and doing whatever the team needs to achieve that goal. She is not a shoot 1st - pass 2nd guard.  Ms. Norman is all about taking advantage of whatever the other team is giving you.  She is blessed with natural strength, speed & quickness. Yaz can leave a defender standing still, apply full-court pressure & she can muscle her way in the post or driving by bigger players to the cup.  She  has yet to reach her maximum potential.  With a great coaching staff combined with her work ethics, it's only a matter of time before we get to see her at her "Best."   We have no doubt, she will leave a legacy behind at the University she has pledged to represent.......   I'm proud to announce Ms. Yasmin "Yaz" Norman has verbally pledged to take her talents to    ...............................................................................................................................

Congratulations Yasmin....... remember to always let your game SHINE!

Erin Morrow
5'9" Shooting Guard/ Small Forward, Erin is very explosive.  She can play either the shooting guard or the small forward spots. She has unlimited range from outside the 3 point line, needing only 19 more made 3 point shots to become her school's all-time record-holder. Erin has excellent ball-handling skills, terrific court vision with the ability to find the open girl for a easy basket.  Ms. Morrow possesses a very high basketball IQ which enable her to adjust her game on the fly to the competition. She has unexpected quickness & instincts combined with her desire to not be scored on, those attributes lead to her being an awesome defender.  We have no doubt, she will leave a legacy behind at the University she has chosen to represent.......I'm proud to announce Ms. Erin Morrow has verbally pledged to take her talents to    ...................................................................................................................................

Brooke Smith
The Quintessential Point Guard, Ms. Brooke Smith.  The diminutive PG has the "Heart of a Lion" and the courage to go along with it.  A warrior, no matter the size she may give up, she will only play harder.  She's a fundamentally sound point guard with incredible upside.  Brooke's ability to see every angle on the floor for a potential pass is even more impressive, as she can seemingly get the ball anywhere she wants on the floor at her own will.  Her knack for knocking down big perimeter shots and her ability to hustle constantly no matter what role she's asked to fill. She will blossom into a deadly scorer from the outside who can also put up points from just about every spot on the court. She will never back down taking it strong to the cup and her defensive instincts will continue to outpace the attention she may draw as a possible mismatch. It's truly impressive to see a girl this size excel with the confidence to let you know it.  We have no doubt, she will leave a legacy behind at the University she has pledged to represent.......   I'm proud to announce Ms. Brooke Smith has verbally pledged to take her talents to   ...............................................................................................................................
