Capital City Stars 7th Grade - Coach Vincent
2013 Marcella Packer Invitational Champion

The 8th grade Stars looked to get off to a good start but the Nationally AAU ranked Ohio Surge had other plans and after what appeared to be a close match quickly changed in the second half and the Surge went on to a convincing victory.   The second game found the Stars with a familiar foe, the Ohio Lady Hoopsters.  The Lady Hoopsters would find the Stars balanced scoring and stellar defensive presence to be too much to overcome.  The Stars went on to win in stellar fashion moving on to the winners bracket on Sunday.  The Stars found themselves victorious once again in their next game heading into Championship Sunday.

Now, the Stars would face Next Level.  The ladies played one of their best games of the year.  They did battle with a very talented, rough& ready, Next Level , team who presented major problem with courageous &  exuberant play.  Our girls showed poise by handling the effusive opposing fans. The rival parents vilifying chanting and booing didn't stop the illustrious Stars from defeating Next Level and advancing to the Final Four.  The Stars were fighting missing players and injuries all weekend with a short bench.  The weight of exhaustive minutes and physical play lead to mental mistakes and the ultimate demise of the Stars as their magnificent tournament run came to a screeching halt in the Semi-Finals.  No words of disappointment were uttered from Coach White.  Only strong words of encouragement and praise for their superb play, valiant effort and the bright future for a battle tested team. Coach White was heard stating, " 3rd place, then 2nd place, then a Championship mean progress and improvement in the right direction....... never get complacent ...........Work, work and then more work is what you do,  to be the Best you can be!!! Let your Game Shine!!! Winning is your Reward & I applaud you!"
