The Battle in the Boro lived up to its hype and the competition was outstanding. The girls withstood a torrent of rough games. The Stars gained experience with the much needed exposure and now see what it takes to compete at an elite level. The team faced some of the Best Girls programs in the Nation such as the following: Texas CY-Fair, Tennessee Flight , South Florida Jags, Michigan's Finest and Nike Georgia Metros (The Metros U16/17 won the Gold Showcase too.) I believe this aggressive schedule will benefit the girls for their upcoming school year. The Stars U15 team consisted of a well balance number of Sophomores and Freshman. This school year look out for the illustrious Stars: Brooklyn Peterson (Northland), Aliyah Colvin (Northland), Marissa Robertson (Centennial), Izzy Luaces (Centennial), Aarin White (Brookhaven), The Twins Kiana & Kiara Thomas (Pickerington Central), Meranda Wilson (Marysville), Melissa Veerman (Olentangy Liberty), Jackie Harris (Bishop Ready), Elise Torrence (Bexley), Olivia Riley (Bexley), Terika Broady (Beechcroft), Tivia Hylton (Beechcroft), Kalie Mascarello (Whetstone) and Ariel Packer (Hartley).

The Stars did battle against some of the toughest foes across the nation in girls club basketball. They faced teams such as the following: Georgia Pearls, SMAC, Midwest Elite, KC Select, Kentucky Blast, Shining Stars Elite and the Louisiana Diamonds Elite. The Stars will continue to take on the best to improve their overall game and shining brightly for the City of Columbus, Ohio. The Stars will be traveling to participate in the prestigious Battle in the Boro now held in Franklin, Tennessee.  This event will pull coaches from every corner of the US.  Below is some video of the Stars in action down in Lexington.

Whew! Where should I begin. Winning championships, making friends, facing obstreperous crowds, battling fierce competition; all in hopes of raising your level of play for this game called BASKETBALL.  The Lady Stars are helping to put Columbus, Ohio on the map for womens basketball.  I'm so proud of the girls, the coaching staff and our parents for believing in our vision and helping to shape the future of girls basketball in Central Ohio.  I ask the entire group to keep working and I hope to see everyone this summer cultivating their skills to advance their level of play. The older girls will be participating in the Battle in the Boro held in Franklin, TN (One of the top exposure events in the Midwest) and attending elite camps and invite only events throughout June, July & early August.  Remember, you can only be as good as YOU WANT TO!!!  I hope to see this great combination of talent back at the Stars tryouts next year and I will be in the gyms checking on your progress.  Get Busy getting better!

Stars’ play for the titles in the 2012 Central Ohio Classic

The 6th Grade Capital City Stars took the Court for their 1st tournament of the season for 2012.  Let me be the first to say, they did not disappoint.  The young stars made it all the way to the Championship game at the Central Ohio Classic before falling in a dog fight.  This youthful team is all heart & soul with them making it to the title game we now have every team having participated in a championship game.  The Stars have (4) team walk away with the champs crown.
The 7th grade team, Coach by Mackenzie Thompson, made it again to the Championship game.  However, they came up a little short but the girls are totally awesome whenever they take the court.  The entire Capital City Stars Coaching staff is without a doubt a collection of Ohio’s best.  To everyone involved keep working and Let your game Shine!!!

The Stars do battle at the 7th Annual U.S. Junior Nationals (USJN) Windy City Classic.
The Lady Stars were up for the challenge this past weekend.  They faced some of the tough’s foes in the Midwest.  The Stars took three (3) teams to the Chic-Town Tourney, hoping to prove their metal against some fierce opposition.  In the beginning it was rough going for our younger teams but our U15 team (White) had early success by winning their Pool Play Bracket with an undefeated record allowing them to advance on to Championship Sunday, once again.  However, this time team White fell short in their quest to gain more bling from Old Chicago.  Team White fell by 3pts and during the last few seconds they had several opportunities to capture the victory.  Even at the last buzzer.  Team Black, once again, had a nail biting finish.  They stayed in the game due to the sharp shooting of Kalie Mascarello and Sarah DeMana. They fought valiantly while losing to Indiana Elite on a last second game winning shot.  Wow!!!  Coach Green’s U13 team lost heartbreak game after game in closely fought skirmishes all day long on Saturday.  They managed to turn their luck around on Sunday as they dominated their competition heading out of the Windy City Classic in blowout fashion.  That’s our little re-cap.  Great Job!  Please, get some rest and enjoy your time with family and friends then get right back to work in the gym.

What a showing by the Capital City Stars Girls Basketball Program at the 2012 TOP TEN Classic.  Capital City Stars…….We Rock!!!  This was the echoing chant heard throughout the gyms @ Reynoldsburg High School Summit Campus all Sunday afternoon.  Coach Green was overheard telling Coach White,”who would have thought, we would be where we are right now with the Stars program.”  Coach White concurred by thanking him for joining an upstart, one team organization some 3 years ago.  The Stars had the fortitude to be playing in four, yes (4) Championship Games in one weekend.  The Stars went 3 and 1 in the four Championship contest. The one in which they lost went to overtime and it came down to the last shot.  The overtime game, without a doubt, provided the most excitement for the weekend with both teams leaving it all on the court.  Great job overall but remember the only goal is not about collecting trophies.  The Staff is committed to helping all the girls with their quest in becoming better players for next school year along with teaching some important life lessons.  This weekend we won, in turn some weekends we may not but every weekend the girls are “BASKETBALL WARRIORS” because no matter who they face they are committed to playing hard and letting their game Shine for all to see!!!  We are the…………STARS!!!.... And WE ROCK!!!

Good Luck @ the Windy City Classic & the Central Ohio Classic Lady Stars.............
