Stars’ play for the titles in the 2012 Central Ohio Classic

The 6th Grade Capital City Stars took the Court for their 1st tournament of the season for 2012.  Let me be the first to say, they did not disappoint.  The young stars made it all the way to the Championship game at the Central Ohio Classic before falling in a dog fight.  This youthful team is all heart & soul with them making it to the title game we now have every team having participated in a championship game.  The Stars have (4) team walk away with the champs crown.
The 7th grade team, Coach by Mackenzie Thompson, made it again to the Championship game.  However, they came up a little short but the girls are totally awesome whenever they take the court.  The entire Capital City Stars Coaching staff is without a doubt a collection of Ohio’s best.  To everyone involved keep working and Let your game Shine!!!

The Stars do battle at the 7th Annual U.S. Junior Nationals (USJN) Windy City Classic.
The Lady Stars were up for the challenge this past weekend.  They faced some of the tough’s foes in the Midwest.  The Stars took three (3) teams to the Chic-Town Tourney, hoping to prove their metal against some fierce opposition.  In the beginning it was rough going for our younger teams but our U15 team (White) had early success by winning their Pool Play Bracket with an undefeated record allowing them to advance on to Championship Sunday, once again.  However, this time team White fell short in their quest to gain more bling from Old Chicago.  Team White fell by 3pts and during the last few seconds they had several opportunities to capture the victory.  Even at the last buzzer.  Team Black, once again, had a nail biting finish.  They stayed in the game due to the sharp shooting of Kalie Mascarello and Sarah DeMana. They fought valiantly while losing to Indiana Elite on a last second game winning shot.  Wow!!!  Coach Green’s U13 team lost heartbreak game after game in closely fought skirmishes all day long on Saturday.  They managed to turn their luck around on Sunday as they dominated their competition heading out of the Windy City Classic in blowout fashion.  That’s our little re-cap.  Great Job!  Please, get some rest and enjoy your time with family and friends then get right back to work in the gym.

What a showing by the Capital City Stars Girls Basketball Program at the 2012 TOP TEN Classic.  Capital City Stars…….We Rock!!!  This was the echoing chant heard throughout the gyms @ Reynoldsburg High School Summit Campus all Sunday afternoon.  Coach Green was overheard telling Coach White,”who would have thought, we would be where we are right now with the Stars program.”  Coach White concurred by thanking him for joining an upstart, one team organization some 3 years ago.  The Stars had the fortitude to be playing in four, yes (4) Championship Games in one weekend.  The Stars went 3 and 1 in the four Championship contest. The one in which they lost went to overtime and it came down to the last shot.  The overtime game, without a doubt, provided the most excitement for the weekend with both teams leaving it all on the court.  Great job overall but remember the only goal is not about collecting trophies.  The Staff is committed to helping all the girls with their quest in becoming better players for next school year along with teaching some important life lessons.  This weekend we won, in turn some weekends we may not but every weekend the girls are “BASKETBALL WARRIORS” because no matter who they face they are committed to playing hard and letting their game Shine for all to see!!!  We are the…………STARS!!!.... And WE ROCK!!!

Good Luck @ the Windy City Classic & the Central Ohio Classic Lady Stars.............
