The Commits from the  Capital City Stars Top Junior Team 

Day 3 - Commit 
This is one of the most exciting times of the year as girls throughout the country have narrow down their choices to where they want to play basketball for the next  4 years in college.  For the student athlete and their parents it has been a wonderful roller coaster ride of highs & lows. However for the Capital City Star Top Team (Class of 2015 and a few 2016) the journey has come to an exhilarating end. The Decision have been closed down to (1) singular school of choice. They have verbally committed and are now anxious to sign on the dotted line for that long awaited dream to be fulfilled.  Each day, We'll add info concerning the decision from one of our proud Capital City Stars.  The hard-work, dedication, determination, prayers and the beliefs have been realized. Today is the first of many more to be recognized in this series on the Capital City Stars playing at the Next Level. So today, we proudly would like to announce the decision of the following Capital City Star:

Ashleigh Parkinson

As a 6'2  guard, Ashleigh possesses the versatility to handle the ball, score from outside the arc, scoring off the dribble yet she will create defensive nightmares because she can post up and score inside too.  Defensively with her size & length she is able to defend quick perimeter players just as effectively as post players.  The way Ashleigh is committed to being the "Best" she will utilize all her time and energy to make herself and her team better.  She is a leader and the consummate teammate while still being extremely coachable. We have no doubt, she will leave a legacy behind at the University she has chosen to represent.......        I'm proud to announce Ms. Ashleigh Parkinson has verbally pledged to take her talents to ...................................................................................................................................

Marissa Brown

Ms. Marissa Brown - Bishop Hartley H.S. (2015) 6'3 - Post.  Marissa has steadily worked to improve her overall post game.  Ms. Brown's skill set now includes an array of low post moves, the ability to face up & take the jumper or drive to the basket. Marissa has added strength from her weight room workouts which should make her rebounding presence more dominant. She has an uncanny timing for blocking & altering shots.             I'm proud to announce Ms. Marissa Brown has verbally pledged to take her talents to ...................................................................................................................................

Hadley Kiefer

Ms. Hadley Kiefer - Dublin Jerome H.S. (2015) 5'11 - Small Forward.  Hadley has steadily work to improve her overall game to included outstanding ball-handling skills along with rebounding and defense to compliment her phenomenal outside sharp shooting and variety of scoring moves.  I'm proud to announce Ms. Hadley Kiefer  has verbally committed and has decided to take her talents to the University of North Florida.

The OGBR Top 64 Showcase will be held Saturday, September 27th AND Sunday September 28th at Reynoldsburg High School (Summit Campus) located on the east side of Columbus at 8579 Summit Road, Reynoldsburg, OH 43068.

The NCAA has posted the OGBR Top 64 Showcase as a certified event.

Brooklynn Peterson 5’7" Freshman Point Guard Northland High School Columbus, OH AAU Team: Capital City Stars

Brooklynn Peterson, a 5’7" point guard from Columbus (OH) Northland High School signed a letter-of-intent to Wilberforce University. Peterson was named 3rd Team All-Central District Division I averaging 14.1 points 5.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. In addition to being a captain, Peterson was also named one of Ohio District 10 top 10 girls’ basketball players. “Brooklynn is high energy and high skill”, says Head Coach Iesha Gray. “I’ve watched her play over the years and her game has evolved with each new challenged. I’m excited to see how she develops at this level.” Brooklynn is the younger sister of 2013 Ohio Ms. Basketball, Alexis Peterson, who is now a guard at Syracuse University Tivia Hylton 5’11 Freshman Forward Beechcroft High School Columbus,OH AAU Team: Capital City Stars Tivia Hylton, a 5’11 Forward  from Columbus (OH) Beechcroft High School, joins the Wilberforce Lady Bulldogs roster for the 2014-2015 Season. Hylton was a stand-out student-athlete at Beechcroft, lettering in both basketball and track and field. “Tivia brings depth and athleticism to the forward position”, says Head Women’s Coach Iesha Gray. “She has a tremendous up-side and I’m excited to see the difference she will make on both ends of the floor.”   Hylton is a scholar-athlete graduating with a GPA above 3.0.

Ayrielle Stith 5’7" Freshman Guard Africentric Early College Columbus, OH AAU Team: Capital City Stars

Wilberforce Lady Bulldogs add another Africentric Lady Nubian to the roster with the addition of 5’7 Guard, Ayrielle Stith. Stith averaged 10 points 5 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game this past season. Head Coach Iesha Gray adds, “Ayrielle is a utility player. I can’t think of one thing she cannot do effectively on the floor. She brings a winning mentality and certain toughness    every successful team possesses.” Stith is a 2-time state champion and 3-sport student-athlete.

To be the BEST you must out work the rest!!! The Capital City Stars are in the gym with Skills & Drills Session from August thru October. No Charge other than working hard till you sweat. For when and where the next Skills Sessions will take place.

OGBR Skills Camp

July 5 & 6 at Reynoldsburg HS (Summit Rd)

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio—In a world of overpopulated event calendars, misplaced basketball focus and short sighted NCAA legislation, it’s difficult for an non-team individual event to survive in July, let alone thrive.  It’s a testament to the management of Tom Jenkins and his Ohio Girls Basketball Report staff plus the consistent depth of talent in the state of Ohio that the 15^th annual OGBR remained a given for recruiters with their sights set on prospects in the Buckeye State.  From the opening address and laying down of the law by Jenkins to the much anticipated and highly regarded counselor games, the event ran like clockwork serving every individual to the fullest extent in a summer of extraordinarily limited evaluation opportunities.

The two day event kicked off the summer evaluation period and featured 264 kids over a two day period on the floors of Reynoldsburg High School.  Speakers, skill instruction and games go hand in hand with a much needed “old school” approach in how to do things to make the event productive for participants and college coaches alike.  In the courtside chairs look for the over 50 recruiters on hand including 12 from what would be considered (thank you football) BCS programs.
